SIDNEY R. RICKS SR.

Sidney Ray Ricks Sr., 94, of the 6000 block of Alexander St., died March 16, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.

He was a retired chief chemical operator for Monsanto Chemical Co. and was a native of Southampton County, Va. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Norfolk. He is known for his love and devotion to his family and to his church. He served with the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Banks Ricks; daughter, Anne RicksSayers of Montgomery, Ala.; three sons, Sidney Ray Ricks Jr. of Chesapeake, William Banks Ricks of Virginia Beach, and James Lynn Ricks of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Fred Braswell and the Rev. John L. Sullivan in Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1500 Sewells Point Road, Norfolk. Burial is in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. A visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Union Mission, or the Salvation Army.
