Byron Christopher ``Chris'' Davis, 38, died March 15, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

He was a self-employed artist and a native of Searcy, Ark. He was a member of Church of Christ. He was also a member of Virginia Opera Company, Virginia Stage Company, Commonwealth Musical Stage, Virginia Beach Little Theater, Virginia Beach Center of the Arts, and Fuller School of Massage Therapy.

He is survived by his parents, Betty S. and Kenneth Davis Jr.; three brothers, Kenneth Lawrence Davis of Korea, Stephen Clifford Davis of Maryville, Tenn., Michael McDaniel Davis of Aurora, Colo.; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George T. Beasley of Memphis, Tenn.; aunt, Mrs. Tommie Sammis of Houston, Texas. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and the arts community. He was an accomplished portrait artist and he did floral and visual work for all major special events in the area.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, in Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of local arrangements.
