Betty Helwig Gordon, 64, of the 2800 block of Flag Road, died March 15, 1996, in her residence.
A native of Portsmouth, she was a former office manager.
She was predeceased by her parents, Chester George and Agnes Mae Manning Helwig. She is survived by a daughter, Doris V. Gordon of Moyock, N.C.; two sons, Elwood B. Gordon III and Terry L. Gordon, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Margaret J. Williams of Atlanta, Barbara Mae Sanford of Portsmouth, Patricia H. Russell of Chesapeake; a brother, William C. Helwig of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Elwood B. Gordon IV, Heather T. Gordon, and Jacqueline V. Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m in Olive Branch Cemetery, the Rev Carlton Smith presiding. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
