CRIME LINE

Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

In the Kings Grant and Eastern Park sections of Virginia Beach, the windows of cars, school buses and a home have been shot out with BB guns. More than 30 reports have been filed since the beginning of the year. The shootings happen in the night while most people are sleeping, but on one occasion, a witness saw an older model, dark Mustang and and light pickup speed out of the neighborhood after several windows were shot.

NORFOLK

The 7-Eleven store at 38th Street and Colley Avenue was robbed at 10 p.m. Feb. 20 by a man buying beer. The customer removed his stocking cap, placed his hand inside it and implied to the cashier that he had a weapon. He forced the cashier to remove the money from the register and fled the store.

Several customers witnessed the robbery, and it was captured on video.

The robber was a black male, 20 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighed about 160 pounds. He had a light complexion and had short hair in a box cut. The man was wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans, a red-and-blue knit cap, and white tennis shoes.

CHESAPEAKE

Grace's Hairstyling in the 2000 block of Bainbridge Boulevard was broken into March 6. The door was forced open, and several items were taken. In recent months, several burglaries have occurred in the Bainbridge Boulevard area. In each case, entrance was gained by forcing open a door.

PORTSMOUTH

The High Point Furniture store at 3125 High Street was robbed Jan. 25. At 9:45 a.m., a man entered the store and asked the manager about a living room set. As the manager began to show him some furniture, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. After he took the money from the register, he had the manager empty his wallet.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, and wearing a green plaid shirt, blue ``Guess'' jeans and a black ball cap with an orange bill.

HAMPTON

The Radio Shack at 51 W. Mercury Blvd was robbed on March 9.

Around midnight, two suspects drove to the front of the business in a late model, white, two-door Cadillac with a dark Landau top. One of the suspects used a rock to break the window and gain entrance. A 26-inch color TV was stolen.

The robbery was recorded by a surveillance camera.

The suspect was described as a black male, 6 feet 1 inches tall, 220 pounds, and wearing a Michigan State College ball cap. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
