SMOKE DETECTOR CREDITED WITH SAVING 4 PEOPLE

A man, woman and two children were saved early Saturday morning by a smoke detector that alerted them to a fire in their trailer home.

The blaze, which broke out about 8:20 a.m., raced through the trailer at 191 Atlantic Ave. Firefighters kept the fire from spreading to other trailers. .

The four, who lost all their belongings but were unharmed, have been relocated to another trailer at Bluxom's Trailer Court and are being helped by the Red Cross.

Fire Lt. Jerr Pereira identified the man as Kenneth Johnson and said the children were between 4 and 7 years old.

He did not have any information on the woman or the names of the children. by CNB
