LILLIE R. ATKINS

Lillie Rose Atkins, 72, of the 2400 block of Virginia Beach Blvd., died March 13, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She retired 14 years ago as a custodial worker from the Naval Public Works Center after 39 years of service. She was a native of Drewyville, Va. She was a past daughter ruler of Virginia State Association of I.B.P.O.E. of W. (Elks) Norfolk Temple 1A, member of Virginia Council, and member of Outer Guard Eureka Lodge of Norfolk.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jane and Sidney Atkins. She is survived by devoted family members, Moses R. Atkins Jr. of Portsmouth, Brenda Atkins Holloway of Virginia Beach, William Covington Jr. of Chesapeake, Junius Covington Jr. of Los Angeles, Savada Taylor of Norfolk, Nettie Smith of Newport News, Va., Edward E. Peele of Norfolk; and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by Dr. Johnnie White in First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery, Capron. Viewing will be Tuesday from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. in Pretlow's Funeral Home and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the church. Fraternal rights will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at 1109 Culpepper St., Norfolk, and will assemble there Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. for the processional to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
