BETH D. SMITH

Beth Anne Dew Smith, 45, of the 2500 block of Deerfield Crescent, died March 16, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Portsmouth, was an X-ray technician at Maryview Hospital. She was a member of Alexander Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Choir, Children's Choir worker, Lydia Mission Circle and former Children's Sunday School worker. She was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Virginia Society of Radiological Technologists, Tidewater District Society of Radiologic Technologists, lifetime member of the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators and Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. She was a 1969 graduate of Cradock High School, Maryview Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and Tidewater Community College.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Douglas Smith; a son, Sean Edward Smith of Chesapeake; her mother, Frances B. Dew of Portsmouth; and two brothers, Billy Edward Dew of Manassas and Larry Burriss of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Alexander Baptist Church by the Rev. John Burr and the Rev. Alan Moor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Alexander Baptist Church Youth Room Building Fund, 3801 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth, Va. 23701.
