James Alvah Batts, 62, of the 6600 block of Chartwell Drive, died March 14, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Batts was born in Norfolk and was retired from Anexer Co. as a wirer and cable worker. He was a former member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Mark Batts of Virginia Beach; his mother, Inez King of Virginia Beach; his father, James C. Batts of Norfolk; a grandson; and several other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, by the Rev. Paul Griffin. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hale Funeral Home. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge of arrangements.
