MAUD A. CHARLES

Maud Andrews Charles, 85, a retired public school teacher, died March 17, 1996.

A native of Essex County, she was a daughter of the late William Lawrence and Allene Davis Beazley Andrews and the widow of James Preston Charles. Mrs. Charles retired in 1970 after teaching for 28 years in the Nansemond County and Suffolk school systems. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a former member of the American Association of University Women.

Survivors include four sisters, Miss Miriam H. Andrews, Charollete Andrews, Mary A. Fitch, all of Richmond, and Lucille Andrews of Tappahannock; two brothers, Lawrence B. Andrews of Tappahannock and Dr. Wayland Andrews of Richmond.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. H. Vance Mann III. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge.
