I read with much interest all of the articles concerning Virginia Beach Deputy Chief Prosecutor Albert Alberi. I felt constrained to write you concerning my own personal experiences with Mr. Alberi.
My office has been involved in no less than 100 cases defending matters wherein Mr. Alberi was the prosecutor. My law office has found him to be not only competent but also fair.
I cannot believe that attorneys in Virginia Beach or anywhere would consider him less than qualified to be a judge. I think that is now a moot question anyway, but certainly Al Alberi is a man of integrity from a standpoint of his prosecuting cases.

Your March 3 article concerning Albert D. Alberi, chief deputy commonwealth's attorney and candidate for Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court judgeship in Virginia Beach, listed some well-publicized cases that Mr. Alberi has prosecuted over the years. Although I was not involved in any of those cases, I did have opportunity during the eight years that I was a criminal-defense attorney in Virginia Beach to work on the other side of cases that Mr. Alberi was prosecuting.
In each case in which I faced Mr. Alberi, I found him to be a formidable adversary. In addition to being a tough prosecutor, however, he conscientiously upheld the ethical standards that govern our profession. On one occasion, Mr. Alberi declined to further prosecute a matter when the chief prosecution witness in conversations with him made statements inconsistent with that witness's testimony at a preliminary hearing.
In my experience, Mr. Alberi has been concerned not only with vigorously prosecuting criminals but also with ensuring that justice is done.
