IT WAS A GREAT EVENING

The Isle of Wight Citizens Association would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in the Town Meeting, ``Let's Talk Politics,'' on March 5.

A very special thanks to three honor students who served as moderators. Sheress Hicks represented Smithfield High School, John Rawls represented Windsor High School, and Richard Spady represented Isle of Wight Academy. We greatly appreciated the cooperation of Jerry Tenney, Smithfield High School government teacher; William Worsham, principal of Windsor High School; and Jack Reynolds, dean of students at Isle of Wight Academy.

Frank Hall represented the Republican Party and Steve Edwards represented the Democratic Party. Ann Edwards, county registrar, and Edward Blount, secretary to the Electoral Board, gave an excellent overview of their duties to the voters of Isle of Wight County. The speakers did a great job in helping all of us better understand the political process.

This was a great evening to talk politics. It was an honor to be part of a program that included so many students. One of the speakers said he enjoyed the program and wished we would do it more often. Perhaps we will.
