Delores Myrtle ``Big Mama'' Nixon, 57, of the 1800 block of Greenleaf Drive, died March 17, 1996, in a local hospital. Mrs. Nixon was a native of Oakland, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Nixon; four daughters, Yolanda Coley of New York, Cynthia Loftin of Norfolk, Alesia Rodgers, LaVonya Loftin, both of Norfolk; three sons, James Reed, Dennis Loftin, Keith Loftin, all of Norfolk; her mother, Bertha Koonce of California; a sister, Barbara Harris of California; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a nephew, Eric Koonce of California; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Loftin of Norfolk; a son-in-law, Andrew Rodgers of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Lee Koonce; and a daughter, Denise Loftin.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Darryl Scott. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk. Friends and family will assemble at 1817 Greenleaf Drive, Norfolk, Thursday at noon for the funeral procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
