FRANK E. YOUNG

Frank Eric Young, 38, of the 4000 block of Genoa Circle, a firefighter for the city of Chesapeake, died March 18, 1996, in the line of duty.

He was a native of Newark, N.J., and member of Jehovah's Witnesses Great Bridge Congregation of Chesapeake. Mr. Young served as a firefighter specialist for 15 years with Chesapeake Fire Department. During his service he received the following citations: Fire Department Good Conduct Award, 1990; Unit Citation for Life Saved, 1992; Unit Citation for Life Saved, 1993; Care Award, 1993; and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Various Sophie Awards. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2449, and president of Tidewater Fire Photographers Association. Mr. Young also received specialized training in Haz Mat Train the Trainer, First Responder, Haz Mat, Ropes and Initiatives, TEMS Life Support Provider, Driver Operator, Confined Space, Level III Firefighter, Haz Mat Level III, Incident Analysis, Pesticide Challenge, Instructor I and II, Fire Arson Detection for Trailer Fires Seminar, LP Gas Seminar, Building Construction, Scuba Diving, Sprinkler System, Disaster Control, Heavy Tactical Rescue, Shipboard Firefighting, Chlorine Safety, Cardiac Techni, and Video Production Specialist-Sentara.

Survivors include his mother, Carole A. Victorio of Norfolk, and her husband, Joseph A. Victorio Jr.; his father, Frank H. Young of Farmingdale, N.J.; a son, Steven Frank Young of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Heather Michelle Young of Norfolk; a sister, Heidi L. Young of Norfolk. He is also survived by Patricia D. LeMole, mother of Steven and Heather; and numerous aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Virginia Beach. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 681 Oakgrove Road, Chesapeake. Services will be conducted by James Tate. Following the services, interment will be held in Rosewood Memorial Park. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is having a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to Chesapeake Fire Department Memorial Fund, NationsBank, 304 Albemarle Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
