Shirley May Polhamus Fox, 70, passed away March 19, 1996, at a Norfolk hospital, after a short illness.
Mrs. Fox, a retired supervisor, worked in the Mail Department of Borden Chemical Co., formerly Smith-Douglas. She was the widow of George W. Fox, a native of Portsmouth, and a Baptist. She was a member of Golden Unit Wives Club Zulekia Court (NU)35, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.
Survivors include five daughters, Georgia Gazzaway and her husband, Riley, of Atlanta, Patsy McMahan and her husband, Gary, of Virginia Beach, Debbie Hudgins and her husband, Frank, of Chesapeake, Dianne Barlow and her husband, Steve, of Chesapeake, Ronnie Young and her husband, Rick, of Chesapeake; a brother, Whitfield R. ``Sackey'' Polhamus of Chesapeake; sister-in-law, Dot Polhamus Snyder of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, Kedran Hudgins Whitten of Youngstown, Ohio, Stacie L. Hudgins of Chesapeake, Ashley P. McMahan of Marietta, Ga., Courtney L. McMahan of Virginia Beach, Aaron F. Barlow, S. Scott Barlow, Adrienne D. Barlow, Kristen L. Young, R. Coy Young, all of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. John E. Reese Jr. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. She was our flower that will never fade.
