LECTURE AND LUNCHEON: The Hampton Roads Naval Museum will present on Monday the second in a three-part lecture series on the history of naval aviation and its beginnings in Hampton Roads. The lecture, ``Wings Over the Bay: Where U.S. Naval Aviation Really Began,'' begins at noon at the Norfolk Live! Club on Norfolk Naval Base. The event costs $6.50 and includes the lecture by author and historian Amy Waters Yarsinske, a buffet lunch and a tour of the aircraft carrier America. For information, call 627-9568.

STRESS AND TRAUMA COURSE: The Portsmouth Naval Medical Center is sponsoring a stress and trauma course for military and civilian health care providers, counselors, clergy members and social workers next Wednesday through Friday. LIONS JOURNEY FOR SIGHT: The 14th annual ``Lions Journey for Sight'' will be held Saturday at Fort Story Army Post. The event, which pairs blind runners with sighted runners, includes a one-mile run at 9:15 a.m. and a 5K run at 10 a.m. The races are hosted by Fort Story and sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Virginia District 24-D and the Tidewater Striders. NAVY HEALTH WORKSHOP: The Navy will hold its 37th annual Occupational Health and Preventive Medicine Workshop at the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel and surrounding hotel conference facilities beginning Friday. The theme for the weeklong workshop is ``Prevention and Protection: Our Global Commitment.'' More than 150 courses and sessions will be offered in the areas of occupational health, preventive medicine, health promotion, environmental protection and industrial hygiene. BLACK HISTORY MONTH: The guided missile frigate Kauffman celebrated Black History Month Feb. 27 with a program of history and poetry readings, music and entertainment for sailors, and their families and friends. Four crew members performed musical selections in a medley of spiritual hymns.

AVIATION HISTORICAL PARK: The Aviation Historical Park, located near Oceana Naval Air Station's main gate, has more military aircraft on display than any other location in Hampton Roads. A recorded message near the base of each plane provides information about that particular aircraft. The display is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

FAMILY SERVICES

HELP FOR SINGLE PARENTS: Little Creek Navy Family Services Center will offer ``Single Parenting'' for all active-duty single parents from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. The class will suggest general rules for disciplining children of all ages and offer tips for developing a support system. To register, call 464-7563.

COMINGS & GOINGS

ARRIVING:

The Military Sealift Command towing/salvage ship Apache returned Saturday after a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Red seas. The crew included 21 sailors, plus an additional 15-member Navy diving team from Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2. Both the crew and divers are stationed at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base. Their operations consisted of several salvage missions, training and coordination exercises, and various mine-recovery operations.

The guided-missile frigate Elrod returned to Norfolk Tuesday after completing a six-month deployment with the Middle East Force. During its deployment, the Elrod patrolled the Arabian Gulf, enforcing U.N. sanctions against Iraq and operating in support of Operation Southern Watch.

DEPARTING:

NATO exercise Unified Spirit '96 will be conducted March 23 to April 3 in the Western Atlantic. Unified Spirit is a maritime exercise involving surface ships, submarines and aircraft from the armed forces of seven NATO nations: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States. The exercise will be conducted by Adm. William J. Flanagan Jr., commander in chief of the Western Atlantic Area, on behalf of the Supreme Allied Command.
