ARREST IN SLAYING

Police arrested a Chesapeake 17-year-old Wednesday in connection with the slaying of a Churchland High School sophomore last weekend.

The suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with capital murder, carjacking and use of a firearm in a felony, police spokeswoman Amber Whittaker said..

Police found Eddie Joe Stevens, 17, fatally shot in the 2500 block of Graham St. about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. They later tracked down the car, a 1986 Dodge Lancer, in which he was last seen.

The suspect also was charged with attempted murder resulting from an attack on another person about the same time Stevens was killed, Whittaker said.
