Dr. L.D. Britt, professor and chairman of surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School, has been named 1996 ``Man of the Year'' by Area II of the NAACP.
Area II encompasses Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Isle of Wight County.
A Suffolk native, Britt was honored in 1995 as the outstanding teacher at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is chief of the division of trauma and critical care at the school in addition to his duties in surgery.
Recognized on numerous occasions for his professional and civic accomplishments, Britt is the current rector of Norfolk State University and a member of the Board of Managers at the University of Virginia. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
