EDWARD H. STOWERS

Edward Hicks Stowers, 69, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 1996, at Radford Community Hospital

Born in Bluefield, W.Va., on June 21, 1926, he was a son of the late Edd Hix and Texas Igo Stowers. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Radford, Elbert Munsey Masonic Lodge (NU)298 of Rocky Gap, Order of the Eastern Star (NU)154 of Rocky Gap, the New River Valley Shrine and the Kazim Temple. He was retired from Collins-Stowers Construction, Inc. He also enjoyed many years as a farmer in Bland County. He was preceded in death by one brother, William F. Stowers, and one sister, Helen Stowers.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eddith ``Tootsie'' Childress Stowers; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Howard Looney of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald E. and Deena Stowers of Virginia Beach, Va., and a granddaughter, Janella Ann Looney of Dublin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Seaver-Sanders and Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Lewis Weaver and the Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. A Masonic Rites service will be held today at 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Seaver-Sanders and Mullins Funeral Home in Radford today from 6 to 8 p.m.
