MARGARET S. RAPER

Margaret Savin Raper, 81, of Harbours' Edge Rest Home, died Wednesday afternoon in Albemarle Hosptial.

Mrs. Raper was a native of Pasquotank County and the daughter of the late John David and Bertha Mae Morgan Savin. She was the widow of Cecil Sherlock Raper and was a retired court reporter. She had worked as a legal secretary and was the manager/co-owner of MS Raper and Associates. She was a member of Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church, Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 44, Elizabeth City Arthritis Foundation and the Elizabeth City Senior Citizens Club.

Mrs. Raper is survived by one daughter, Sherri Raper Scott of Ockeechobee, Fla.; son, Cecil David Raper of Elizabeth City, N.C.; brother, Charles S. Savin of Ahoskie; grandson, John David Raper Sr. of Elizabeth City; two great-grandsons, John David Raper Jr. and Timothy Andrew Raper, both of Elizabeth City. She was predeceased by her sister, Agnes Savin Cartwright.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. R. Whitfield Bass and the Rev. Paul Mullenix. The family will assemble at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mad to Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church.
