David Heath was named Friday as the head football coach at Norview.
He replaced Will Robinson, who resigned after two seasons.
Heath, 29, spent one season as the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach under Robinson. He previously worked as an assistant at Cox, Bayside and Norfolk Catholic.
Norview was 4-6 last season, but loses only five players to graduation. The Pilots figure to be one of the favorites in the new eight-team Eastern District next fall.
``This is a program on the rise with a lot of kids who have been playing together since they were sophomores,'' Heath said. ``It's their time now.''
There were 18 applicants for the job, and three received in-depth interviews, Norview athletic director Doug Townsend said.
Heath is a graduate of Princess Anne High and played two years of football at Elon before transferring to Old Dominion.
He is married and has a 2-year-old daughter.
