Carson I. Simpson Sr., 85, of the 4400 block of Black Beard Road, died March 22, 1996, in Sentara Bayside Hospital. He was born in Lynchburg, Va., and was a charter member of Baylake United Methodist Church.
In 1950, Mr. Simpson assumed ownership of Simpson Transfer from his father, Nolly P. Simpson and later incorporated the business into Simpson Transfer and Storage. Mr. Simpson was also a Department of Defense contractor for the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office, Norfolk; Central Personal Property Shipping Office, Langley; and Fifth Coast Guard District, Portsmouth.
He was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge (NU)266, Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple of Norfolk (Century Club and Air Patrol), and Blue Lodge of Norfolk.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel P. Simpson of the home; son, Carson I. ``Chip'' Simpson Jr. of Virginia Beach; and sister, Mrs. Cecile Patterson of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ted David in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the chapel service.
