Mary Lester Mapp, 75, of the 1700 block of Greenhouse Road, died March 21, 1996, after a long illness.
Mrs. Mapp, a former owner of Burke's Fashions and Andrea's at Hilltop, was a member of Bayside Baptist Church. An avid golfer, she was a past president and a member of the Tidewater Women's Golf Association, and previous member of the Women's Metro Golf Association.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph S. Mapp Sr.; two daughters, Joan M. Bryan of Norfolk, Kathryn M. Minga of Chesapeake; a son, Joseph S. Mapp Jr. of Suffolk; a brother, C. Glenn Lester of Harwood, Md.; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel by the Rev. Allen G. Reifsnyder and the Rev. Donald G. Wilson. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave. Norfolk, Va. 23513.
