Randi A. Perrone-Kerfoot has withdrawn from the race for an at-large, two-year seat on the Virginia Beach School Board.
The flight attendant and real estate investor who is also pursuing a legal career said that an unexpected opportunity to read for the bar had caused her to reconsider her bid.
``I can't do both, and I thought that (a school board seat) would require a lot of time,'' Perrone-Kerfoot said Saturday.
She said that she had decided that the commitment of time required in a legal career would not allow her to devote enough time to a position on the school board.
She said that her eventual legal experience will make her an even more eligible candidate for the school board, but at a later time.
The mother of three young children mailed her letter of withdrawal to the voter registrar Friday.
Perrone-Kerfoot is one of 50 people who filed for seven seats on the board and one of 16 who sought to fill two-year spots as citywide candidates.
