Margaret C. Cross, 86, of the 2700 block of Hickory St., died March 21, 1996, in the home of her sister in Bartow, Ga.
Mrs. Cross was born in Chester, Fla., and was a retired self-employed caterer. She was the widow of Joseph Cross. She was a member of Fellowship United Church of Christ, Chesapeake, a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Women's Fellowship and the Margaret G. White Circle. She was a member of the NAACP, PARC Inc. Organization, and was involved with the Girl Scouts of America for 60 years, 40 years of which she was a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include a sister, Annie Tarver of Bartow, Ga., and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fellowship United Church of Christ in Chesapeake by the Rev. Winston E. Waugh. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today. The family will be at Corprew Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Fellowship United Church of Christ Building Fund or Educational Fund.
