Elder Paul H. Brent of 713 Lexington Ave., departed this life at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 1996 at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Elder Brent was born March 22, 1918, and lived in the Zanesville area all his life. He retired from the Muskingum County Mental Health Center in 1978. He was an ordained minister of the Church of God & Saints of Christ and was the local pastor for the past 16 years. He was past master of Golden Rule Lodge (NU)30 of Zanesville and a 50-year member; past high priest of Quinn Chapter (NU)15 R.A.M.; member of Malta Commandry (NU)15; member of L.D. Eastern Consistary, 32nd degree Mason; and a noble of Alababa Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Icyle Brent whom he married June 22, 1977; two sons, David Lawrence Brent and Paul Levi Brent, both of Zanesville; three grandsons, all of Zanesville; three granddaughters; two stepsons, Larry and Greg Norris of Zanesville; six stepdaughters, Brenda Newman, Victoria Norris and Stephanie Norris, all of Zanesville, Janice Norris, Kathy Colman and Beverly Norris of Columbus; three sisters, Naomi Singer and Martha Brent of Zanesville, Elizabeth Patterson of Baltimore; four brothers, Jehu Brent and Benjamin Brent of Zanesville, Raymond Brent of Laurel, Md. and Ezra Brent of Portsmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Lucille Brent; his first wife, Beulah Brent; and two brothers, Daniel Brent and William Brent.
A viewing will be at 1 p.m. today in Church of God & Saints of Christ Tabernacle, Suffolk, Va., with Elder Ezra Lock presiding. Burial will be at 2 p.m. today in Belleville Cemetery, Suffolk. Delong Baker & Lanning Funeral Home handled services in Zanesville. Information was furnished by Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
