TEENAGER DIES

A 19-year-old North Carolina woman died Sunday when she was thrown from a pickup truck in a single-vehicle accident, state police said.

The victim was identified as Amy J. Price of Greenville, a former Smithfield resident.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. on Virginia Route 626 eastbound just west of Virginia Route 627.

State police said a 1985 Chevrolet pickup driven by Angela Hicock initially ran off the right side of the road.

Police said the driver overcorrected and the pickup came back onto the highway, but when the driver overcorrected again, the pickup flipped on its side and rolled several times.

Price, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and thrown about 60 feet.

Hicock, whose address was not known, was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News with head injuries. She was in serious condition.
