ESTHER G. CAHOON

Esther Gray Cahoon, 76, of the 1500 block of Cedar Road, died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at her home.

Mrs. Cahoon was born in Avon, N.C., and was the daughter of the late William James and Margaret O'Neal Gray. She was the widow of Wallace Burgess Cahoon. Mrs. Cahoon was a school bus driver for old Norfolk County for 18 years. She was a member of Deep Creek Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and Grassfield Quilting Club.

Survivors include her son, Wallace Gray Cahoon of Elizabeth City, N.C.; three sisters, Pearl Madrin of Riviera Beach, Fla., Lucy Ballance of Elizabeth City, and Earl Scarborough of Avon; a brother, Roy Gray of Frisco, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Elizabeth City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
