Carrie Rawls Morris, 73, of the 500 block of S. Pembroke Ave., died March 25, 1996, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
She was a native of Hertford County and the widow of Thurman L. Morris of Gates, N.C., who preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Aulander High School and Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College, in Wilson, N.C. She taught school for many years.
Survivors include her mother, Dessie B. Rawls; and four brothers, Chester G. Rawls, Felix W. Rawls and John T. Rawls, all of Ahoskie, and Jesse Raymond Rawls of Yorktown, Va.; a niece; two nephews; four grandnieces; and four grandnephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Joe Buck and the Rev. Hines Adams. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the home of Chester and Gwen Rawls, 901 W. Stokes St., Ahoskie. Memorial donations may be made to Middle Swamp Baptist Church or the Ahoskie Rescue Squad.
