John Tracy Pierce, 50, of the 1100 block of Lawson Cove Circle, died at home March 23, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Victoria Lynn Pierce; two daughters, Tracy Lynn Hammon and Kelly Ann Pierce; and sons-in-law, Michael Allen Hammon and Scott William Garrett. He is also survived by his parents, A. Keith Pierce and Mildred Harding; brother, Ross Pierce; sister, Barbara Orville; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
He was the current site director for the MITRE Corporation at the Atlantic Intelligence Command located in Norfolk. He was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Catalina High School in Tucson, Ariz. In 1968, he received his degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. In 1973, he and his family moved to Chelmsford, Mass., where they resided for 14 years. After spending several years in Europe, he and his wife moved to Virginia Beach, where they resided at the time of his death.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. April 6, 1996, at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Chelmsford, Mass. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Arthur Hover and the Rev. Karen Foley. Friends are encouraged to attend and share in memories. The church may be contacted for further details. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Chelmsford, the American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association.
