W. Carl Spencer Jr., 76, of the 1900 block of Kingston Ave., died March 23, 1996.
He owned and operated the Spencer Esso in Ocean View for many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent of Norfolk and Masonic Lodge (NU)335. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Spencer Sr. and Swannie R. Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian F. Spencer; three daughters, June Toole of Washington, D.C., Laura Savage of Falls Church, Va., Anne Wright of Arlington, Va.; a son, Walter C. Spencer III; a sister, Beverly S. Helms; and a brother, Reid M. Spencer of Norfolk; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Advent of Norfolk today at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert M. Miller presiding. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
