JAMES E. BAKER

James Elliott Baker, 79, of Meadow Road, died Sunday March 24, 1996, in his home following a sudden illness.

Mr. Baker was born in Chowan County. The son of the late George H. and Mrs. Emma Elliott Baker, he was a retired farmer and a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Hazel B. Hoffler of Sunbury, Minnie F. Baker and Wilma B. Williams, both of Norfolk; a brother, Locke C. Baker of Tyner; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Miller Funeral Home by the Rev. Randy Green and the Rev. Michael Jordan. Burial will follow in the Baker Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Locke C. Baker, 3735 Virginia Road, Tyner. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edenton-Chowan Rescue Squad, Unit 2.
