HARVEY L. WHITLEY

Harvey L. Whitley, 70, a Great Bridge resident for 38 years, died March 24, 1996, at a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Whitley, the widower of Sudie Dudley Whitley, was the former owner of Whitley's Gas Service Inc. He was a native of Tarboro, N.C., and attended Great Bridge Baptist. He was a member of Great Bridge Masonic Lodge (NU)257 AF&AM, Khedive Temple of the Shrine, and American Legion Post (NU)280. He was a U.S. Marine 3rd Division veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynne W. Kennedy of Chesapeake; two sons, Stanley H. Whitley of Chesapeake, Tracy L. Whitley of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Floyd Whitley of Nashville, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Rev. Charles Mosely. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital, c/o Khedive Temple, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23320. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the graveside.
