Lt. Herbert F. ``Bert'' Videll Sr., 94, died March 25, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Videll, a native of Burlington, Vt., was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1946 after 27 years of service. He was also retired from Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority after 20 years. Mr. Videll, the widower of Margaret Mary Videll, was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Fleet Reserve Branch Association (NU)60. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Margaret V. and her husband, Lannie B. Woolford, of Norfolk; a son, Herbert Videll Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Lynn Grigsby and her husband, Bob, Lannie Woolford and his wife, Pat, Mike Videll and his wife, Tracy, Cathi Konopik and her husband, Brad, Beth Goralewicz and her husband, Rob, Bill Videll and his wife, Michelle, Jim Videll and his wife, Ginny, and Patti Videll; 12 great-grandchildren, Jessie and Jacqui Grigsby, Taylor Woolford, Patrick, Caitlin, and Erin Videll, Shannon, Austin, and Troy Konopik, Emily Goralewicz, Matthew and Ryan Videll.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park with military honors by Father Tom Caroluzza. A Fleet Reserve service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today at 7 p.m. The family will remain to greet friends until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jennifer Braun Cancer Fund, c/o Mrs. Val Braun, 784 Deer Lane, Virginia Beach, 23462, or to the charity of one's choice.
