HARRY MILLER

Harry ``Jack'' Miller, 88, formerly of Newport News, died March 25, 1996.

Mr. Miller, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., was retired from the Newport News Fire Department after 39 years of service. He was a Catholic. He was a member of the Newport News Fireman's Association. Mr. Miller was former Welter Weight Boxing Champion from 1927 to 1929.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hoosack of Norfolk, Toni Shipp of Falls Church, Va.; a sister, Edna Kline of New Jersey; a brother, Raymond Miller of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, by Father William Dale. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Infant Home.
