A third candidate for the School Board election has dropped from the race, shortening the list to 47 people vying for seven seats.
A. Michele DeVinney Killian, the 30-year-old manager of a carpet service company, cited ``personal and business considerations'' as reasons for ending her candidacy.
``I feel that the City of Virginia Beach and the school system would be better served by another candidate who will be able to deliver more time to this endeavor,'' Killian wrote in a letter.
Last week, Randi A. Perrone-Kerfoot withdrew from the race for an at-large, two-year seat because of an unexpected opportunity to read for the Virginia bar. Perrone-Kerfoot, a flight attendant and real estate investor, is pursuing a legal career.
On March 18, Ann E. Cramer-Burniske, a 37-year-old mother of two small children, ended her run for the Lynnhaven Borough seat, citing time commitments to her family. ILLUSTRATION: ISSUES FORUM
