The 56th season of The Lost Colony outdoor drama will open on Thursday, June 6 and play nightly, except Saturdays, at 8:30 p.m. through Aug. 23.
``In the nearly 60 years that The Lost Colony has been in production, it has played to over three-million people from all over the world and served as the training ground for nearly 6,000 actors and technicians,'' said Eric Hause, director of marketing. ``It is truly a national treasure.''
The Lost Colony is produced by the Roanoke Island Historical Association, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to commemorating Sir Walter Raleigh's Roanoke Voyages of 1585-1587. It is performed in historic Waterside Theatre at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.
The drama was written by Pulitzer Prizewinner and North Carolina native Paul Green.
Ticket prices range from $14 for adults to $7 for children 11 and under.
