Rudolf Wilson Cerny, 78, of the 2300 block of Alder St. died March 27, 1996, in his residence.
He was retried from Yellow Freight Co. He was a native of Prince George County, Va. He was a veteran of World War II where he received a Purple Heart. He was also a member of the American Legion (NU)204, and he was a veteran of Foreign Wars. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Marshall Hunt Club and Tidewater Anglers Club. He was the son of the late Rudolf and Mildred Benishek Cerny of Prince George County.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Augusta D. Cerny; daughter, Jane Kauchak of Norfolk; son and his wife, Rudy and Diana Cerny of Chesapeake; two sisters, Margaret C. Blaha of Dinwiddie County, Pauline C. Drilling of Buffalo, N.Y.; brother, Joseph C. Cerny of Waverly, Va.; three granddaughters, Amy Rice Williams of Mechanicsville, Tomora Cerny of Chesapeake, Kara Kauchak of Norfolk; grandson, Robbie Rice of Richmond; great-grandson, Christopher Scott Williams of Mechanicsville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Cerny Rice.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday by the Rev. Larry Miles in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
