Mary W. Wells
SMITHFIELD - Mary Williams Wells, 60, wife of Wilton ``Nick'' Well, died Monday, March 25, 1996.
A native of Crewe, Va., she was a member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, its deaconess board and church school. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Pilot Club, Links, past national president of Neafces and a life member of the NAACP. Mary received her BS Degree in 1957 from Virginia State College and her MA Degree in 1970 from Hampton Institute. In 1991 she retired from the Isle of Wight Extension Services after 34 years. She was employed at Goodman-Segar Hogan Realtors.
She is survived by her husband, Wilton ``Nick'' Wells of Smithfield; son, Wilton N. Wells II of Smithfield; sister, Emily Lucille Williams of Capital Heights, Md.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell and the Rev. V.L. Thomas. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will assemble at the residence at 1 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to, The People for Mary Wells, 9 St. Catherine Drive, Carrollton, Va. 23314-3105. Pretlow and Chapman Funeral Home, Smithfield, is in charge of the arrangements.
