Owen B. Dempsey, 82, of the 4700 block of Poolside Place, died March 27, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
He was a retired postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service Accounting Department. Born in Scranton, Pa., he was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and the Virginia Beach Senior Citizens Couples Club.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia C. Dempsey; one daughter, Patricia D. Francis of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Maribeth Crooks, Christopher Owen Francis and Kevin Michael Francis.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. by Father John Peck O.S.B. in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will be private. A Christian Wake service will be held today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Foundation.
