JAMES C. TURNER

James Carlton Turner, 73, of 555 Old Halls Creek Road, died Wednesday, March 27, 1996 at Obici Hospital in Suffolk.

Mr. Turner was a native of Elizabeth City and the son of the late Wilson and Susie Rhodes Turner. He was the widower of Mildred Ryan Turner. He was a retired supervisory piping inspector in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Turner is survived by four daughters, Sandra Bruckner of Knoxville, Tenn., Joyce Forbes of Camden, N.C., Nancy Cunningham of Wilmington, N.C., and Pattie Letts of Manteo, N.C.; two sisters, Blanche Provo of Moyock, N.C., and Edna Jewell of Chesapeake; two brothers, Wilson Turner of Mississippi and Wilbur Turner of Florida; two granddaughters, Tamara Renee Luton and Ashley Suzanne Bruckner and a very dear friend, Esther Slocumb of Chesapeake. He is predeceased by a brother, Chester Turner, formerly of Burlington, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ector Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
