George Vaughan Harris, 76, of the 2300 block of Azalea Ave., died March 25, 1996, in his residence. A native of Portsmouth, he was a retired U.S. Merchant Marine. He formerly attended Twine Memorial Holy Temple Church, Portsmouth.
He is survived by two sisters, Betty M. King of Portsmouth and Lola Burke of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Willis J. Harris.
A funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. F.R. Williams in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the funeral service.
