LILLIAN W. PHILLIPS

Lillian Wilson Fentress Phillips, 87, died March 29, 1996. She was a native of Norfolk and a former resident of Portsmouth.

She was a retired clerk from Central Files Classified Mail, Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a member of Pythian Sisters, Temple (NU)4 and First Presbyterian Church, Portsmouth.

She is survived by her husband, Brooks Phillips; one daughter, Beverley Kayton Byrd and her husband Charles R. Byrd of Portsmouth; one son, W. Douglas W. Kayton and his wife Jeannette B. Kayton of Roanoke; stepdaughter, Brooke White of Morristown, Tenn., and stepson, C. Brooks Phillips of Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren, Guy D. Kayton, Cynthia Linker Deller and Kimberly Kayton Thornburg; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a former husband, Melvin E. Fentress.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by Dr. Walter Kennedy. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at 27 Rivercrest Drive, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 515 Court St., Portsmouth.
