COAST GUARD SAFETY: Two boating fatalities near the Great Bridge locks in Chesapeake Saturday prompted local Coast Guard officials to remind pleasure boaters of the dangers of the sport and to encourage families and friends to sign up for a Coast Guard Auxiliary safe boating course. SEATTLE WHEELCHAIR GAMES: More than 550 veterans are expected to compete in the largest annual wheelchair sporting event in the nation July 2-6 in Seattle. Sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the event is open to all U.S. military veterans who use wheelchairs due to spinal cord injury, certain neurological conditions, amputations or other mobility impairments. PHOENIX CREW HONORED: Six crew members of the Norfolk-based fast attack submarine Phoenix were honored during a recent visit to their namesake city where they visited three schools and 1,500 students and faculty with which the ship has a partnership. They also appeared on local radio and television and met with Phoenix Mayor Skip Rimsza. Lt. Cmdr. Dan Mack, the sub's executive officer, attended, along with the following enlisted members, all of whom have been top performers among the crew: Chief Petty Officer Steve Sherman; Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Wild, Petty Officer 2nd Class Ken Cassidy, Petty Officer 2nd Class Scott Horkey and Petty Officer 3rd Class Robert Winfrey.

VOLKSMARCH AT FORT EUSTIS: Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the American Red Cross will host the third annual Volksmarch for Life at Fort Eustis April 27. The event begins and ends at Murphy Field. Walkers may begin as early as 8 a.m., but all walkers must be on the course by noon; the 5K and 10K walks are suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. PCO/PXO SPOUSE'S WORKSHOP: Navy Family Service Centers of Hampton Roads are holding a free one-day workshop for spouses of prospective commanding officers and prospective executive officers today from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Armed Services YMCA, located on Lakeside Drive in Virginia Beach. The workshop provides information on the availability of resources in military and civilian communities, problem-solving, opportunities for leadership and networking with peers. CHANGE OF COMMAND:

Capt. Stanton C. Greenawalt relieves Capt. Raymond A. Duffy as commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship Wasp. Duffy is being reassigned to Washington to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff as the senior military advisor to the U.S. Ambassador for the Conference of Disarmament. Greenawalt previously served as executive officer of the Wasp.

Cmdr. Paula H. Hinger relieves Cmdr. John V. FitzSimons as commanding officer of the ``Rawhides'' of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40 at Norfolk Naval Air Station. Hinger previously served as the squadron's executive officer. FitzSimons is retiring.

Cmdr. John W. Snedeker relieves Cmdr. Emmitt D. Dickens as commanding officer of the ``Tophatters'' of Fighter Squadron 14, the Navy's oldest fighter squadron. Snedeker previously served as the squadron's executive officer. Dickens is being reassigned to the Naval Air Warfare Center at Patuxent River, Md., as chief test pilot. by CNB
