R. HERBERT PEMBERTON JR.

R. Herbert Pemberton Jr., 78, of 900 First Colonial Road, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was a native of Tampa, Fla., and the husband of Helen Nortonen. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tampa, where he was married 53 years ago. He retired in 1983 after 40 years as an accountant.

In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by two daughters, Miriam A. Pemberton and Janice H. Schoger, both of Virginia Beach; a son, R. Herbert Pemberton III of Augusta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kelley S. Schoger of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Andrew R. Schoger of Virginia Beach and W. Bryan Pemberton of Augusta; and a great-granddaughter, Amber M. Pemberton of Augusta.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, by the Rev. Wallace P. Odum Jr.
