Bessie Thweatt Saunders, 89, of the 600 block of Kingsborough Square, died April 15, 1996.
She was born in Brunswick County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Willie Gillam Baird Thweatt and the wife of the late George T. Saunders. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Saunders is survived by a brother, Harry Maynard Thweatt of Roanoke, Va., and a very dear friend, Les Kolesarick of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Cemetery, McKenny, Va., on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Mercer officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
