Bernard W. Joyner, 85, formerly of Kinston, N.C., died April 16, 1996, in his residence.
He was a retired locomotive engineer for Seaboard Coastline Railroad where he had worked for 44 years. He was a native of Bertie County, N.C.
He is survived by his wife, Louise D. Joyner; two daughters, Marilyn Andrews of Goldsboro, N.C., and Esther and her husband, Robert R. Briner, of Virginia Beach; son, John K. Joyner of Stuart, Fla.; two sisters, Katherine Tanner and Virginia DeBerry, both of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Moss W. Armistead in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, is in charge.
