Celesta Sawyer Jr., of the 7300 block of Gregory Drive, died April 14, 1996, in a local hospital.
He was a bricklayer and a native of Norfolk. He was a member of Zion Light Church of Christ.
He is survived by a son, Rashad Chris Williams; parents, Juanita Sawyer and Celesta Sawyer Sr., both of Norfolk; two sisters, Geraldine Painter, Jacqueline Keyes, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Richard Sawyer, Allen Sawyer, both of Norfolk; five aunts, Lillian Scott, Norris Parker, Estelle Smith, and Alice Harris, all of Norfolk, and Mary Turner of New York, N.Y.; two uncles, George Smith and John Smith of Norfolk; seven nieces; five nephews; two brothers-in-law, Stanley Painter and Leroy Keyes; sister-in-law, Shelia Sawyer; and a host of other relatives and friends, all of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday by Elder William Best in Zion Light Church of Christ. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence.
