Charges against a 43-year-old Portsmouth man have been changed from malicious wounding to murder after the death of a shooting victim.
Police were called April 9 to the 3000 block of Portsmouth Blvd. When they arrived, they found Joseph Whaley, 28, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Whaley, who lived on that block, was taken to a hospital, where he died April 13.
Police charged Sandy McKeithan Jr., who lived near Whaley, in the case.
He is being held in the Portsmouth City Jail.
