More than 200 community leaders have been invited to participate in a community ballot for Dare and Currituck counties on April 16 and 17.
The ballot is a survey of the community's ability to improve working, living, and investment opportunities on the Outer Banks.
Elected officials and Chamber representatives recently attended a luncheon hosted by Wachovia Bank at Mako Mike's in Kill Devil Hills to discuss the possibility of conducting a community ballot for the Outer Bans.
Results of the community survey will be presented at a breakfast program at 8:30 a.m. on May 16 at the Ramada Inn.
``By bringing together leaders of the community, we are able to use a questionnaire to perform a self-assessment/self-analysis of our business environment, infrastructure, leadership, life qualities, work force attraction and other issues which are important to the community,'' said John West of Wachovia Bank. ``Approximately three weeks later, we deliver the results that community leaders can use as they desire to build community consensus and develop goals.''
Members of the community who are interested in participating in the survey are invited to do so. Ballots can be completed at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, at the Chamber building in Kill Devil Hills; 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, at the Goose Creek Country Club in Grandy, and at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, at the College of The Albemarle Dare Campus in Manteo.
