Regarding state Sen. Mark Earley's recent comments concerning the parental-notification bill: The Chesapeake Republican stated that the reason Republicans revived the bill even after it was defeated once was because, ``You can do anything you want around here as long as somebody will let you get away with it.''
In other words, forget about what's right and forget about the proper procedure; Republicans make their own rules.
The Republicans tried every little dirty trick they could to endanger the lives of teenage girls but, luckily, they failed! I am so glad that the seven women in that chamber opposed this measure, for they are truly qualified to make such a decision.
It amazes me how the Republicans constantly say that they belong to the party that wants the government out of your life . . . unless of course you happen to be a woman.
